Help us run the cloud
CloudClerks is a small, hands-on team - support engineers included. No tiered escalation maze, no scripts to read from: if you can fix it, you fix it, and customers notice the difference.
A support role that's actually about solving problems
We keep the team small on purpose - every ticket you close and every KB article you write has a visible effect on the product, not just a queue metric.
One support tier
No hand-off maze. You own the ticket, you reproduce the issue, and you're trusted to escalate only when it's genuinely infrastructure-level.
Remote-first
We've never had a central office. Work from wherever, on a schedule that overlaps a few hours with either US or EU customers.
Real infrastructure access
You'll troubleshoot on the same consoles and hosts engineering uses - not a sandboxed mirror with half the tools missing.
Room to grow
Support engineers who want it move into Platform or Infrastructure - we'd rather promote someone who already knows our stack.
1 open role
Don't see a fit? - we're small enough that a good generalist changes what we hire for next.
Technical Support Engineer, Level 1
You'll be the first response for CloudClerks customers - triaging tickets, unblocking boot and network issues, and knowing exactly when to pull in Infrastructure or Platform.
What you'll do
- Answer incoming support tickets and chat within our SLA, for issues ranging from billing questions to a VM that won't boot.
- Walk customers through provisioning, DNS, firewall rules, and image selection for Surface through Exosphere plans.
- Reproduce reported issues on real infrastructure before escalating - we don't forward tickets without doing the legwork.
- Write and maintain KB articles for the issues you see more than once.
- Escalate infrastructure-level incidents to the Infrastructure team with a clear, reproducible writeup.
What we're looking for
- Comfortable in a Linux shell - SSH, basic networking (DNS, ports, firewalls), and reading a boot log without panicking.
- Clear written communication - most of this job is explaining technical things to people who are mid-incident and stressed.
- Some prior support, helpdesk, or NOC experience, or a strong personal-projects / homelab background.
- Comfortable owning a ticket queue with no tiered hand-off maze - if you can fix it, you fix it.
Nice to have
- Experience with a cloud or VPS provider (as a user or a support engineer).
- Familiarity with common web stacks (nginx, Docker, Postgres) well enough to sanity-check a customer's setup.
